KC
Lee

(Michael Henderson, Phillip Hyman)

KC is a native of Chicago where he began singing as a child. Growing up in church is where he found his love of singing and the birth of the singing group, Statement of Faith. The group opened for gospel greats like the Winans, Commissioned, BeBe & CeCe Winans, Albertina Walker, and others. The success of this group allowed KC to venture out as a professional recording artist and find the love of musical theatre. KC has been with Theater 47 since its inception, often taking on lead roles in musicals like the misunderstood “Ike Turner” in Takin Back my Name the Ike Turner Story, “Mister” in the Color Purple, “Curtis Taylor Jr.” in Dreamgirls and “Teddy Pendergrass” in Turn Off the Lights to name a few. He has been nominated several times as best actor by the Black Theater Alliance and received the Black Excellence “Best Actor” award for his portrayal of “Justin” in the movie, The Best Thing.
